Charles Mitchem

Biography

A U.S. Marine Veteran with six years of service, Charles Mitchem currently serves as the Associate Director, Veteran Education Outreach. Following his separation from active duty, he completed his bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

His role at UCLA VIP is to assist Veterans, active duty, reserves, and military-connected persons with their education benefits available through both the US and California Departments of Veteran Affairs. Due to his own experiences with transitioning into higher education and seeking career development, he is passionate about providing the access, resources, and support needed to achieve success to underserved Veterans and Veterans-connected communities.

With the help of his service dog, he dedicates time outside of VIP to self-improvement. His leisure activities include discovering new foods, hiking, camping, and fly-fishing.
